The third edition of a youth training initiative in Oman, centered around electric vehicle technologies and sustainable transport solutions, has concluded successfully. Spanning from July 19 to August 27, the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme attracted 35 young participants from various universities and colleges across the nation, aiming to equip them with advanced knowledge and skills in the burgeoning field of electric vehicles.
The programme provided comprehensive training on several critical aspects of electric vehicle technology, including charging infrastructure, network planning, and the maintenance and operation of electric vehicles. Additionally, it emphasized the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their significant role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. This holistic approach aimed to prepare participants to contribute effectively to Oman’s evolving transportation sector.
Workshops conducted during the programme delved into pressing environmental challenges and the principles of sustainability. They also highlighted the relevance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging participants to develop practical solutions tailored to the environmental needs specific to Oman. These sessions were crafted to empower the young attendees with the capability to address local environmental issues through innovative strategies.
This initiative aligns with Oman’s broader national objectives, which include promoting sustainable transportation options and progressing towards carbon neutrality by the year 2050. By focusing on these areas, the programme not only enhances the skill set of its participants but also contributes to the country’s strategic environmental goals, fostering a new generation equipped to drive change in sustainable practices.
