Oman is actively seeking to enhance its tourism and heritage sectors by forging stronger international partnerships, as highlighted by the recent visit of Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, the nation’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, to Italy. During this visit, Al Busaidi engaged with a range of Italian officials and institutions to explore opportunities for collaboration in areas such as tourism development, heritage preservation, and cultural exchange.
A significant part of Al Busaidi’s itinerary involved discussions with the Italian Alpine Club and Renco Company, focusing on the potential for developing mountain and adventure tourism in Oman. These talks emphasized the application of Italian expertise in trail development and associated services, aiming to diversify and enhance Oman’s tourism offerings.
Furthering these collaborative efforts, Al Busaidi visited the Colosseum Archaeological Park to learn from its management about archaeological site preservation and heritage management. Discussions during this visit centered around exchanging expertise and improving professional capabilities in managing heritage sites and enhancing visitor experiences.
In addition to heritage and adventure tourism, Oman’s strategy includes promoting itself through sports tourism. Al Busaidi met with representatives from the football club Inter Milan to explore avenues for showcasing Oman’s tourism attractions to an international audience, leveraging the global reach of sports.
The visit also featured a presentation on the Italian tourism market, highlighting opportunities to strengthen Oman’s presence within Italy. Meetings with Italian media organizations were part of this initiative, focusing on promoting Oman’s rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and diverse tourism experiences to Italian audiences.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy by Oman to expand its international partnerships, attract visitors from target markets, and utilize global expertise to develop its tourism products while safeguarding its cultural heritage.
