Next week, Oman is poised to unveil the “Imtidad” Community Solar Power Stations Programme, a significant initiative designed to enhance public engagement in the realm of renewable energy. Spearheaded by the Public Services Regulation Authority (PSRA) in collaboration with licensed electricity providers, this programme enables both residents and businesses to partake in solar energy benefits without the need for personal solar panel installations on their premises.
Participants in the programme will gain electricity bill credits through the energy produced by community solar stations linked to the national grid. This innovative approach is intended to lower energy expenses, foster the adoption of clean energy solutions, and propel Oman towards a more sustainable energy landscape. A cornerstone event of this launch is the opening of the Wadi Al Kabir Community Solar Power Station, marking the first venture of the Imtidad initiative and representing Oman’s inaugural community-centric solar facility. There are plans to progressively extend similar endeavors nationwide.
